Volition was acquired by THQ, a publicly-traded California company, giving Volition more financial stability, leaving us free to take on new challenges and pursue the games that we really wanted to create.

Summoner was released for the PS2. It was the first of five games that Volition ultimately made for the PS2.

Summoner was the first PS2 game from a North American developer to be shown to the press, and it ended up being the #7 launch title in terms of overall North American sales.
