Senior Mission Designer

SENIOR MISSION DESIGNER

Volition is searching for AAA design talent for its next-generation console titles. We need outstanding mission designers with expertise in gameplay design, scripting and implementation.

o Design, create, implement, and iterate fun and compelling gameplay.

o Create and maintain detailed, up-to-date specs, asset lists, and other design documents.

o Provide input on the game’s vision and help champion that vision to other team members.

o Keep leads and managers advised of progress on tasks, recommended improvements, and problems encountered.

o Keep up with competitive products and upcoming releases.

o May be tasked with other duties and responsibilities in support of the project design team.

o At least 2 complete product cycle as a professional designer. Proven track record with AAA console products and/or or online development preferred.

o Proficiency with scripting languages, such as Lua or Python.

o Positive, professional attitude. Disciplined and self-motivated with a strong work ethic.

o Ability to think creatively and analytically. An in-depth understanding of how gameplay works and how to create fun, meaningful experiences for the player.

o Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to multitask and be flexible about changing role requirements.

o Passion for games and ability to articulate that passion clearly and analytically. A broad knowledge base of console and PC games.

o College degree or equivalent.

Pluses

o Proficiency with 3D editors such as UnrealED, Source, QERadiant, or CryTek’s Sandbox engine.

o Experience with open world, third-person action, or multiplayer design.

o Any other art or technical skills relevant to game development.

o Please provide samples of your level design work. Downloadable and playable levels are preferred, but other samples may be acceptable (e.g., videos or instructions for viewing levels shipped in retail products).

o Any supplemental materials demonstrating skills relevant to this position are also encouraged.
